We stopped by this Mexican restaurant during a road trip - and didn't expect much at first. (We're from Los Angeles) But what do you know - a very pleasant dining experience! Very friendly & professional staff, delicious Mexican food, plus nice portions. This place also has a bar w/TVs. I get the feeling it's a popular local hangout. Anyhow, thank you for a lovely experience. Highly recommend if you're in the Indio area. :)

Four of us for dinner and our orders were #4 Taco & Chile Relleno & rice & beans, Chiles Rellenos, Chile Verde, Enchiladas de Carne. Hospitality and service was great- we were sat quickly and tasty chips with salsa delivered when the order was taken. The cafe was spacious, clean and comfortable. The dishes were great looking and not super spicy. The enchiladas, chile rellenos, chile verde rated excellent. Taco not so much. I found the beans okay, one party member was not impressed. I am not a great fan of rice but what I was served was the best Mexican flavored rice in memory. Next time in area, we are going to try the original El Mexicali Cafe.

We popped in today after a performance at Indio HS. The hunger being felt was draining, so hitting a spot that wasn't too far was nice. German was our server and asked about our interest in "drinks" after we had been seated. For me, a blended Mango Margarita and a standard Margarita on the rocks for my wife. My margarita was excellent and it has been a while since I dabbled with this variety. I highly recommend it, having some chips with their incredible salsa while going to my straw was addicting. My wife LOVES Chilaquiles and anyone that knows her can attest, I also opted for something related to "breakfast", the Huevos Con Chorizo. The HCC came with potatoes mixed with peppers & onions, along with some Refried Beans. Everything turned out positive and our plates were left SPARKLING clean. Too bad I can't say the same for my Purple Polo. A big thumbs up to German and the staff as well. A return visit will eventually happen.

You haven't lived until you've had a meal at the El Mexicali small chain of family restaurants. As a Huevos Rancheros girl .. I'm guaranteed to have an exceptional quality and quite tasty meal no matter where I am in the Inland Empire. Basically ... I eat everything .... EVEN that gigantic green pepper ( Chile Guerito ) that you see on my plate .. No .. it wasn't hot

This is our new fantastic go to in the Indio area. Truth be told there are countless good Mexican restaurants in Indio and the Coachella Valley and we are bound and determined to go to them all. To sum it up, good food and good prices with friendly service. Nice bar are for lunch or drinks with ample seating throughout the two rooms of the restaurant. Bartender was very friendly and helpful. Shrimp ceviche was excellent They have a soup of the day and Friday is this delicious carne and bean soup which is fantastic - may have been the best food of the day. The lady had the pepper stuffed with shrimp and a taco- excellente! I went with basic taquitos, rice and beans which hit the spot. Beans were approved by my lady, which is a high honor. Give this place a try!
